Choose Hex if the search string is hexadecimal, or choose ASCII if it is an ASCII string.
'Check' displays the check number assigned to this search description. The check number is provided with the other virus definition parameters to validate the description fields.
'Search Description' describes the characteristics of the virus.
'Add Virus Definition (Data)' lets you add a new virus definition to search data forks for a new virus.
'Search string' specifies the string, either ASCII or hexadecimal, used to identify a new virus. Type the search string in the text box directly below this option.
'File type' displays a four-character code for the type of file to be searched for a new virus. Type a code, such as STAK or APPL, in this field.
'Virus name' displays the name of the new virus definition. Type the virus name first when you start a new virus definition.
Shows the current search description number.
'-' deletes the current search description.
'>' moves up one through the search descriptions.
'<' moves down one through the search descriptions.
Click Cancel to remove any changes you made during this session in the Add Virus Definition (Data) dialog box and close the dialog box.
Click Add when you have finished typing the virus definition to select the SAM User Definitions file and add the virus definition to that file.
